Job Description:
Forward Slope is seeking a fast-learning Technical Writer to provide documentation support for the Department of Defense (DoD).
This position entails identifying, creating, reviewing, editing, and formalizing technical documents that will be used by the program and its users. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a distributed team environment following Agile methodologies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Researching, documenting, and developing detailed operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, technical specifications, training materials, and other similar documents to become soft copy documentation and to live on knowledge management applications.
- Identifying, creating, reviewing, editing, and formalizing technical documents with requested specifications that will be used by various programs and stakeholders, including users, engineers, analysts, and sponsors.
- Ensuring that final documents communicate information and data clearly and effectively.
- Correcting technical and editorial errors and participate in rewrites as necessary.
- Working closely with team members and government clients to ensure documentation is effectively created, edited and then delivered on time to the clients consistently.
- Reviewing and/or editing content developed by other members of the team.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Writer Experience: Minimum of three (3) years
- Experience working within a software development team following Agile methodologies
- Experience developing, editing, and formalizing technical and graphical documentation
- Expert knowledge and highly proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Must be proficient with creating and working on PDFs
- Be able to work well under high demands and adapt to deadline changes as well as technical requirements and agile schedules.
- Be organized while working with several documentation and communication tasking at once
- Can problem-solve independently while working and staying accountable to team members in different time zones
- High proficiency in communication skills, verbal and written
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Atlassian products, such as Confluence and Jira
- Experience with MS Teams and similar collaboration tools
- Expert level in Adobe Acrobat or PDF applications
- Expert level in knowledge management tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, or similar applications
Other Requirements:
Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance or be able to obtain one.
Pay Range: $38.50 - $45.00/hour
