Forward Slope currently has a full-time position for an Engineer/Scientist V to join our Global Security and Engineering Solutions Team. This position is located in Charleston, SC.
Job Description:
- Conduct comprehensive technology analysis and assessment related to C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) Systems, including evaluating emerging technologies, industry trends, and potential applications.
- Define system designs based on gathered requirements, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and operational needs.
- Develop detailed systems specifications outlining functionality, performance criteria, and technical requirements necessary for successful implementation.
- Perform thorough systems analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, enabling informed decision-making throughout the development lifecycle.
- Design robust systems architectures that optimize performance, interoperability, and scalability while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Integrate C4ISR systems and equipment seamlessly into existing infrastructure, ensuring interoperability and compatibility across various platforms and networks.
- Develop comprehensive test and evaluation criteria to validate system performance, reliability, and security under various operating conditions and scenarios.
- Provide expert-level support for logistics activities related to C4ISR systems, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and sustainment planning.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Global Command and Control System - Maritime/Joint (GCCS-M/J), Tactical Data Links, or Broad Spectrum Communications, offering guidance and insight to project teams and stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of advancements in C4ISR technologies and methodologies, actively participating in professional development activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, scientists, analysts, and end-users, to achieve project objectives and deliver innovative solutions that meet operational requirements.
- Mentor and coach junior staff members, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster professional growth and development within the organization.
- Maintain documentation, including technical reports, design documents, and configuration management records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for future reference and compliance purposes.
- Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and technical forums, presenting findings, insights, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Adhere to established quality assurance processes and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and guidelines.

The Engineer/Scientist V is expected to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and opportunities within the C4ISR domain.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, or related field.
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in C4ISR Systems, to include:
- Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design Definition, Development of Systems Specification, Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements.
- Recognized as an expert in GCCS-(M/J), Tactical Data Links, or Broad Spectrum Communications.
- Note: Experience may be concurrent.
- Overseas travel may be required.
Desired Qualification:
- Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or with COR approval complete
- Vendor/platform specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), other).
Other Requirements:
- Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance or be able to obtain one.
*Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000
