Forward Slope is seeking a fast-learning Software Engineer to provide software development and maintenance services for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Aviation Logistics Environment (ALE) Product Line. The product line provides proactive performance metrics and assessments to a fleet of NAVAIR’s aircrafts, including aircraft performance, maintenance requirements, and various data on individual aircraft parts.

This position entails designing, developing, testing, integrating and deploying software systems related to Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). The software suite is built on the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), desiring candidates to have a history with Java development and a willingness to learn about Hadoop Ecosystems. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a distributed team environment, working independently, and being able to design, develop and test software threads that implement system features. This position requires that candidates be located in San Diego, CA.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
• Currently hold an active Secret clearance or be able to obtain one
• 3+ years software engineering experience related to enterprise systems, including experience with:
  • Java and Java EE tools (i.e. Tomcat, Maven, JUnit, Selenium, Jenkins, Git)
  • UI development with modern web technologies (i.e. HTML5, JavaScript, AngularJS)
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services (i.e. REST, AJAX, JSON, XML)
  • SQL and NoSQL database engineering (i.e. PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems

Desired Qualifications:

• Software engineering experience with:
  • DevOps engineering (i.e. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Vagrant)
  • Containerization (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Cloud computing infrastructure (i.e. AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government)
  • Atlassian Suite (i.e. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Big data microservices using the Hadoop Ecosystem (i.e. Solr, Accumulo, HBase, Hive, Storm)
• Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 Certified
