Forward Slope is seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to provide software development and maintenance services for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Aviation Logistics Environment (ALE) Product Line. The product line provides proactive performance metrics and assessments to a fleet of NAVAIR’s aircrafts, including aircraft performance, maintenance requirements, and various data on individual aircraft parts.

This position requires candidates to have experience in designing, developing, testing, integrating and deploying software systems related to Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). The software suite is built on the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), requiring candidates to have a history with Java development and Hadoop Ecosystems. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a distributed team environment, working independently, and being able to design, develop and test software threads that implement system features. This position requires that candidates be located in San Diego, CA.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
• Currently hold an active Secret clearance or be able to obtain one
• 6+ years software engineering experience related to DoD systems, including experience with:
  • Java and Java EE tools (i.e. Tomcat, Maven, JUnit, Selenium, Jenkins, Git)
  • UI development with modern web technologies (i.e. HTML5, JavaScript, AngularJS)
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services (i.e. REST, AJAX, JSON, XML)
  • SQL and NoSQL database engineering (i.e. PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems

Desired Qualifications:

• 3+ years software engineering experience with:
  • Big data microservices using the Hadoop Ecosystem (i.e. Solr, Accumulo, HBase, Hive, Storm)
  • Cloud computing infrastructure (i.e. AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government)
  • DevOps engineering (i.e. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Vagrant)
  • Containerization (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Atlassian Suite (i.e. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
• Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 Certified
